PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – For the fourth consecutive year, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville is ranked first in the state in annual return on investment, according to the 2018 PayScale ratings.
UW-Platteville has an annual return of 10.3 percent on investment among in-state graduates, tops among all public and private higher education institutions in Wisconsin. In addition, UW-Platteville is number two in the state for 20-year net return. According to PayScale, Wisconsin residents on average invest $71,600 in their education and earn $439,000 after 20 years.
UW-Platteville is also an outstanding value for out-of-state students, ranking fifth in annual return on investment and fourth after 20 years, according to PayScale figures.

PayScale notes that early-career graduates earn $53,600, while mid-career salaries averaged $92,800.
In addition, SmartAsset ranks UW-Platteville as the third-best university in the state for best value, noting the average awards of grants and scholarships is $3,871, while tuition is $7,488 and total yearly costs are $11,126. SmartAsset also lists the starting graduate salary as $53,600 on average.

Founded in 1866, UW-Platteville has approximately 7,500 undergraduate and 900 graduate students. The university offers 41 majors in three colleges: the College of Business, Industry, Life Science and Agriculture; the College of Engineering, Mathematics and Science; and the College of Liberal Arts and Education. The university offers two on-campus graduate programs. Online offerings include two undergraduate and five graduate programs.
