The budget plan approved by the Wisconsin Joint Finance Committee is good news for the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. The plan would boost funding to the state’s schools by nearly 640 million dollars. It includes almost 75 million dollars for a new engineering building on the UW-P campus and renovations to Boebel Hall. State Assemblyman Travis Tranel of Cuba City says the budget plan is a win-win for public schools and the UW-System. The new engineering building will allow UW-P to educate up to an additional 800 freshmen and 200 transfer students. The Boebel Hall renovations will transform 17 laboratories into modern facilities for STEM education.
