Assembly Joint Resolution 136

This constitutional amendment, proposed to the 2025 legislature on first consideration, provides that the people have an individual and fundamental right to privacy. A constitutional amendment requires adoption by two successive legislatures and ratification by the people before it can become effective.

Assembly Bill 331

This bill establishes a civil cause of action for civil rights violations. Under the bill, any person who has been deprived of any due process or equal protection rights, privileges, or immunities secured by the constitution or laws of the United States, or any rights, privileges, or immunities secured by the constitution or laws of this state has a cause of action and may bring suit against another person, including the state or any political subdivision, department, agency, or instrumentality of the state, for damages and for injunctive or other appropriate relief.

Assembly Bill 437

This bill requires retailers to provide a sales invoice or sales receipt to a person purchasing a consumer good that clearly states the total cost of any tariff imposed on the sale of that consumer good. “Retailer” is defined in the bill to mean persons who, in the preceding calendar year, sold a total amount of consumer goods the gross value of which was $3,000,000 or more.
