Legislature Passes Historic Increase in Shared Revenue for Local Communities
MADISON, Wis. - Today the State Legislature passed AB 245, which provides a historic increase in shared revenue funding for local communities.
“Today we passed a historic investment for towns, villages, cities, and counties in the 45th and throughout Wisconsin. Local governments have not had a real investment from the state in over a decade. I am proud to have played a role in securing millions more in funding.”
“During my tenure on the Beloit City Council, I saw first-hand the damage a lack of funding from the state does to our communities. These new funds will help local governments make critical investments into things like roads, and public safety. Local elected officials know their communities best. Letting them have the resources to address their needs is long overdue.”
AB 245 has passed the Assembly and Senate. It will head to Governor Tony Evers’ desk to sign.
