Travels, Sully, and Budget Listening Sessions (Oh My!)
In this week’s e-update, I share just a few of the events I attended around the 45th District. Sully visits one of our amazing local insurance agencies for Sully Sunday. I also have a reminder for our upcoming budget listening sessions. The first one is tonight, March 8th, at 5:30 at the Beloit Public Library.
Beloit Swearing In Ceremony
On February 25th, I had my in district swearing in ceremony. I deeply appreciate everyone who joined me. Thank you to the American Legion for providing the flags, Beloit City Council President Regina Dunkin for emceeing the event, State Senator Mark Spreitzer for speaking, and Rock County Circuit Court Judge Ashley Morse for providing the oath.
Public Schools Week
Last week was Public Schools Week. I had the opportunity to tour Merrill Elementary School in Beloit. It was a lot of fun seeing the students actively learning, and I even had the chance to bump into my former 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. Weiss. Thank you Principal Brandye Hereford for showing me around.
Orfordville Fire Chief
On Friday (3/3), I went to K’s Outback Cafe in Orfordville to meet with Orfordville Fire Protection District Chief Ryan Perkins and Deputy Chief Fred Carr. We had a great conversation about public safety in Wisconsin. I am eager to have conversations with my colleagues in the legislature about how to address the challenges facing public safety.
Ribbon Cuttings
I had the opportunity to attend two ribbon cuttings. The first one was for Beloit Meals on Wheels. I served on their board, and it was amazing to see this building go from a rendering to a physical building. They provide an essential service, and I am glad they have a sustainable home. The second one was for Sugar River Country Bakery in Monticello. It will be a great addition for the village, and I am excited to visit again. If you are ever in Monticello, I would strongly encourage you to visit.
Sully
Sully made a fun stop to Senz Insurance Inc. They have been open since 1957 and are on their third generation running the family business. They not only offer insurance to the community; they are actively a part of it as well. Sully knows how important getting good insurance is. Senz Insurance Agency is one of the great places in the 45th that can help.
