Tour with Lieutenant Governor, Legislation, Capitol Visits, and Sully
In this week’s e-update, I toured Community Health Systems in Beloit, attended a local government meeting, hosted two school group tours at the capitol, and visited the Downtown Beloit Association with Sully.
Community Health Systems Tour with Lieutenant Governor
This week I toured Community Health Systems Inc. with Lieutenant Governor Sara Rodriguez, Senator Mark Spreitzer, and Deputy Secretary of Wisconsin Department of Health Services Debra Standridge. It was great to hear from their staff and board about the importance of health centers in the community.
Committee Meetings
This past week I've had committee meetings for both agriculture and local government. We passed out of committee legislation that would expand eligibility for the Well Compensation Grant Program. This program allows people with bacterial or nitrate contamination to mitigate those conditions or get new wells. We also had a public hearing on expanding the tax credits in the Farmland Preservation program. This is an important change that will help encourage farmers to participate in this program.
School Group Capitol Visits
This past week I was thrilled to welcome a 4th grade class from Monticello Elementary School and a group of students from Beloit College. I had a great time talking about how easy it is to get lost in the Capitol with the students from Monticello and fielded some thoughtful questions from the passionate group of college students from Beloit.
Sully Sunday
In a special Easter edition of Sully Sunday, this week Sully stopped by the Downtown Beloit Association, who play a huge role in supporting downtown businesses and putting on events like the Beloit Farmers Market. Sully and I thank them for all that they do! If you have a recommendation for where Sully should go next, nominate a location here.
