Soybean Processing, Corporal Benjamin H. Neal Memorial Highway, Watershed Meeting, and Sully
In this e-update, the Assembly passed a bill for a new Evansville soybean processing plant and a bill to rename a highway section for Corporal Benjamin H. Neal. I attended a Farmers of the Sugar River Watershed Meeting, and I visited The Rock Bar and Grill with Sully.
Evansville Soybean Processing Plant
This week the Assembly passed SB 787, which will allow Evansville to go ahead with the creation of a TIF for a new soybean processing plant. With Rock County being the top producer of soybeans in Wisconsin, this project will have an extremely positive impact for the City of Evansville, the region, and our entire state. I want to thank Senator Spreitzer, Senator Marklein, and Representative Novak for their contributions to this bill. I look forward to seeing this project advance.
Corporal Benjamin H. Neal Highway Dedication
This week the Assembly passed a bill to rename a section of Highway 11 between Orfordville and Footville after Corporal Benjamin H. Neal. A 2009 graduate of Parkview High School, he was tragically killed in Afghanistan in 2012. I was pleased to be joined by Kurt Stuvengen, Post Commander of the American Legion Post 209, and Bill Fitters, Officer of the American Legion Riders of District 1, to see the passage of this meaningful bill. I look forward to Governor Evers signing it. I also want to thank Senator Spreitzer, Senator Nass, Representative Schutt, and Representative Jacobson for their support.
Farmers of the Sugar River Watershed Meeting
State Senator Spreitzer and I attended a meeting for Farmers of the Sugar River Watershed, a producer-led watershed group. There were many informative presentations and great conversations on best practices to improve soil health.
Sully Sunday
This last week Sully and I enjoyed our visit to The Rock Bar & Grill in Beloit. This fine establishment offers an inviting atmosphere and a great menu. Sully highly recommends the Frickles!
