Since my last update, I introduced important public safety legislation to provide much-needed grants for small police agencies. I co-hosted a Medicaid Townhall with Senator Mark Spreitzer, and I was able to get to a few community events across the 45th District including the Rock County Dairy Breakfast and the 60th anniversary celebration for Community Action, Inc.
Small Police Agencies Grants
I introduced bipartisan bill LRB-2712 regarding small agencies police grants. This bill helps tackle personnel issues that many small police agencies face by providing grants that would cover costs related to attending the police academy and on-the-job training. This bill has the backing of every major police group across the State of Wisconsin. I am hopeful that we will see swift action to address this important public safety issue.
Community Action 60th Anniversary
It was an honor to present a Legislative Citation to Community Action Inc., along with State Senator Mark Spreitzer and Rep. Brienne Brown, to celebrate Community Action’s 60th anniversary!
Medicaid Townhall
Along with Senator Mark Spreitzer, I hosted an open townhall at the Beloit Public Library regarding proposed largescale Federal cuts to Medicaid. The discussion was lively and collaborative. We heard how these potential cuts would harm hospital financials, and how this move would threaten the care and wellbeing of people with asthma, diabetes, and many other chronic conditions. It was an honor to meet everyone and to listen to their concerns. We must protect BadgerCare and the hospitals and people of Wisconsin who rely on this critical program.
Robotics Pancake Breakfast
The Robotics Pancake Breakfast was a joy to attend! I enjoyed the pancakes, and had a blast supporting Team 2x4! I’m wishing them the best in their upcoming competition that will take place in Florida later this month!
Rock County Dairy Breakfast
June is Dairy Month! I attended the Rock County Dairy Breakfast graciously hosted this year by Templeton Farms outside Evansville. There was quite the crowd, and it was great fun as always!
Sully Visits Turtle Island
Sully visited the ribbon cutting at Turtle Island!
The park is beautiful, and it offers opportunities for fun and exercise! Sully rates it two paws up out of two!
