This week, I celebrated Juneteenth in our community and the Juneteenth Flag was raised over the Capitol in Madison. I also delivered Legislative recognition to a local leader making positive change in young peoples' lives in the 45th District.
And it's time to gear up for Summer! I had a chance to welcome the changing weather with some sweet treats and Sully got out to plan a day at the pool!
Covering for Congressman Steil
State Senator Mark Spreitzer and I dropped off comments about potential Medicaid cuts to Bryan Steil's office. Last week at our townhall, you made your voices clear: these cuts would devastate our communities and leave people struggling to pick up the pieces. Congressman Steil hasn't had a single in-person townhall since the new Administration took power.
We’re making sure the voices of our constituents are heard loud and clear.
Recognizing Debbie Fischer
State Senator Mark Spreitzer and I were honored to present Debbie Fischer with a legislative citation celebrating her 30th anniversary as Director of Youth2Youth 4 Change.
I’ve had the privilege of working with Debbie both during my time on the Beloit City Council and now as a State Representative. Her dedication to empowering young people through peer-led education and advocacy has made a lasting impact. Under her leadership, Youth2Youth 4 Change has inspired a generation to live free of tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs and to lead with purpose.
Strawberry Shortcake Festival
I had the opportunity to volunteer and serve desserts at the Strawberry Shortcake Festival. It was wonderful to see so many community members come out to enjoy delicious strawberry shortcake while supporting the Evansville Education Foundation. Great taste for a great cause!
Thank you to everyone who made this event possible!
Juneteenth at the Capitol
On Wednesday, the Juneteenth flag was raised over the Wisconsin State Capitol to honor a pivotal moment in our nation's history: the end of slavery in the United States.
Juneteenth is a celebration of freedom, resilience, and the ongoing struggle for justice and equality. I'm proud to stand with so many who continue working toward a more just and inclusive Wisconsin.
Let us remember the past and recommit ourselves to the work still ahead.
Happy Juneteenth!
Community Juneteenth Celebrations
Last weekend I had a wonderful time celebrating Juneteenth at Riverside Park! It was great to see so many familiar faces and enjoy the fantastic local vendors. I even bumped into Markese, the latest recipient of the Barack Obama Trailblazer Award presented by Rising Queens.
Thank you to Rising Queens for putting on such a powerful and joyful event!
This Saturday, June 21st, we'll celebrate one more time with Elite Ladies of Beloit at Telfer Park. Hope to see you there!
Sully Takes a Dip?
Sully stopped by to cool off at Krueger Park in Beloit! We were a day early, but now that the pool is open, we'll definitely have to come back soon!
If you're looking to beat the heat and have some summer fun, check out Krueger Pool!
