Economic Justice, Constituents, and the Beloit Chamber of Commerce

In this week’s e-update, I co-authored legislation to establish an Economic Justice Bill of Rights, met with several constituent groups in the Capitol, attended the Beloit Chamber of Commerce Dinner, and had another adventure with Sully.

Economic Justice Bill of Rights
I proudly joined many activists, community leaders, and legislative colleagues in a press conference to reintroduce the Economic Justice Bill of Rights. We have a historic surplus and have a unique opportunity to invest in our greatest asset; our people. Thank you Reps. Shelton and Hong for leading!

Meetings in the Capitol
I have had several meetings with constituents and organizations from the 45th District in the last week. Celestino Ruffini from Visit Beloit shared the priorities for the tourism industry this session. Nursing students came in and talked about the challenges facing nurses in Wisconsin. Alzheimer's advocates shared their experiences working with and caring for people with Alzheimer's. Green County Sheriff Jeff Skatrud and Rock County Sheriff Curt Fell discussed the issues facing law enforcement in the district and throughout Wisconsin. I appreciate having so many people take time to visit my office in Madison.

Beloit Chamber of Commerce Dinner
It was a full house at the Beloit Chamber of Commerce Dinner. I enjoyed the conversations at it prior to the program. Congratulations again to all the well deserved winners of awards.

Listenings Sessions
I completed my first listening session with Senator Spreitzer at the Beloit Public Library. There was consistent support for Governor Evers’ budget during it. Senator Spreitzer and I answered questions about the process and how to advocate for all the good things in his budget.

Sully Sunday
Sully went on an adventure to Beckman Mill in Newark Township. The Rock County Parks Department shared there were leprechauns loose in various parks in Rock County. Sully searched the park diligently and found one. The search for them goes until Friday, March 17th. Go to the Rock County Public Works website to see where the other five are. If you have a recommendation for where Sully should go next, nominate a location here.

Representative Clinton Anderson

P.S. Reminder my first budget listening session with Sen. Spreitzer is tonight at 5:30 at the Beloit Public Library. Here are all the scheduled budget listening sessions in the 45th District.
