Budget Listening Sessions, This Week's Travels, And Sully

In this week’s e-update, I am announcing upcoming listening sessions about the Governor’s Budget, sharing this past week’s travels, and giving another update from my dog Sully as he continues to travel around the district for Sully Sundays.

Budget Listening Sessions in Beloit, Evansville, and Brodhead

Last week the Governor released his budget, and Senator Mark Spreitzer and I want to know your thoughts. We’ve scheduled listening sessions around the 45th District for us to tell you all a bit more about the budget and to get feedback on what items are most important to you. These listening sessions will be held in Beloit, Evansville, and Brodhead.

I joined Rep. Jacobson and Sen. Spreitzer this week on a visit to Blackhawk Technical College. Dr. Tracy Pierner led us through the numerous facility upgrades that have taken place over the last few years. He also showed us what is being built and what is coming in the future. I was impressed with the number of high quality programs Blackhawk Technical College provides our community. They work in conjunction with area employers to ensure those who receive an education at BTC can work in our community. I look forward to seeing the campus continue to thrive.

I also went to the Farmers of the Sugar River Annual Meeting in Albany. This group of farmers works to teach other farmers and the public about no till cover crops and ways to reduce soil erosion. It was a great day with programming on everything from the role of farmers in carbon sequestering to the health of the Sugar River.

Last night, I went to both the Brodhead Rural Fire Association meeting and the Brodhead City Council Meeting. Our office has been closely watching the challenges with the Brodhead Fire District. I am hopeful that a solution will be reached.

Sully Sundays

Finally for this week’s Sully Sunday, Sully went to Firebolt Stone Oven Pizza & Coffee Shop in Brodhead. This uniquely decorated space was a great place to stop for a cup of coffee or one of their delicious menu items. If you have a recommendation for where Sully should go next, nominate a location here.

Representative Clinton Anderson

P.S. Reminder my in district swearing in ceremony is tomorrow, Saturday February 25th, at noon in the Community Room of the Beloit Public Library. I hope to see you all there.
