Representative Dallman Votes In Favor of Historic Shared Revenue Bill

Madison, WI – Yesterday, Representative Alex Dallman (R-Green Lake) voted in favor of Assembly Bill 245, which invests historic funding to shared revenue for local governments across Wisconsin.

“I am proud to vote yes on AB 245 which makes historic investments to local governments in the 41st Assembly District and across Wisconsin,” said Rep. Dallman. “This legislation focuses on making our local units of government innovative, invests in public safety, and directly assists rural, suburban, and urban communities facing financial challenges for years to come.”

If AB 245 is signed into law, it would be the largest increase in shared revenue in Wisconsin history. The shared revenue program provides unrestricted aid to Wisconsin counties and municipalities through various programs such as county and municipal aid and utility aid.

Under this legislation, every local government will see a minimum of a 15% increase in shared revenue. This new money will incentivize efficiencies, cost savings, and consolidation of shared services. In addition, a portion of these new funds will be allocated to support law enforcement, fire, EMS, public works, and transportation.

“Not only does AB 245 make major investments in our local communities, it provides additional funding for public safety, which has always been one of my top priorities,” said Rep. Dallman. “I also encourage every local official to call, email, and write their state senator and the governor and urge them to support AB 245.”

AB 245 will now head to the state senate for consideration.
