Welcome to my e-update

I would like to thank you for signing up to my e-update. As your Representative, I believe it is vitally important for me to keep my constituents informed of the work that I am doing in the State Capitol and across the 41st District.

This Week in Session

This week in session, I voted in favor of legislation that will encourage unemployed individuals to return back to work as businesses and employers navigate a worker shortage. This bill ends Wisconsin's participation in federal unemployment benefit programs which discourage people to return to work by paying them an extra $300 to sit on the sidelines.

Wisconsin has gotten back on its feet and it is a shame that many businesses can no longer find enough workers who want to work. The demand for products is high and the demand for workers is even higher. At a time when we need all hands on deck in the workforce, federal enhancements are only keeping people on the sidelines. It's time to get all able-bodied adults back to work.

Testifying on Behalf of the Wisconsin Dells

Senator Ballweg and I were able to testify on our bill, Assembly Bill 227, this week in the Committee on Ways and Means. This bill extends the time during which tax increments may be allocated and expenditures for project costs may be made for Tax Incremental District Number 2 in the City of Wisconsin Dells and extending the time during which expenditures for project costs may be made for Tax Incremental District Number 3 in the City of Wisconsin Dells.

This specific piece of legislation will help the Wisconsin Dells attract private sector development, therefore helping the local area continue to recover from the impact that COVID-19 has had on the tourism industry.

Borrowing Less-Investing More

As the budget process continues to move forward, Republicans continue to fund priorities at record levels while reducing the future burden on Wisconsin taxpayers. Wisconsin Republicans are helping support our LOCAL roads. As I travel the district each week, I see first-hand the importance of a greater investment into our local township and county roads. I am encouraged that the Republican Legislature has held firm in this same belief and is investing more into our local infrastructure!

Horicon Marsh National Wildlife Refuge Tour

Last week, I joined a few of my colleagues on a guided trip through the Horicon Marsh National Wildlife Refuge to see how our taxpayer dollars are being spent to strengthen and preserve our natural resources. I will continue to be an advocate for a 10 year extension of the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program.
