Testimony on AB 603 & AB 604

I had the opportunity to testify in the Assembly Committee on Housing and Real Estate on both of my bills, Assembly Bill 603 and Assembly Bill 604. Both of these bills are a part of a broader package, which focuses on our extreme shortage of workforce housing. 

Assembly Bill 603 relates to a shovel-ready workforce housing development site program. This bill would create a program through the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, which would identify areas with the prequalification that the property has a clean title, proper zoning, adequate utilities and other infrastructure, has no wetlands, and limits all development-related fees to no more than $5,000 a unit. Another major piece of this bill ensures that developers would obtain all necessary development approvals within 60 days after complete applications and building permits are submitted.

Assembly Bill 604 would create a pay-for-performance metric for organizations that receive state funds to assist in combating homelessness. These organizations would be incentivized to demonstrate their success in this mission by proving they are effectively accomplishing the following goals:

• Increasing the number of homeless individuals or families that secure permanent housing
• Increasing the number of homeless individuals securing employment opportunities
• Reducing instances in which homeless individuals or families return to homelessness

Housing needs to be a priority for the future of Wisconsin and I am glad to be a part of this overall housing package. 

Sporting Freedom Press Conference

This week, my Republican colleagues and I had the opportunity to hold a press conference with Ted Nugent to discuss our Sporting Freedom bill package. As a Representative for a rural district with an abundance of agriculture, natural resources, and beautiful lakes, I am extremely proud to be a lead author on two of these bills. 

With this package of bills, it makes it extremely clear that the Wisconsin Legislature stands alongside our sportsmen and women, our farmers, our corn growers, and most importantly, our constitution. We must continue to take a stand for our second amendment rights and do all that we can to strengthen and preserve our great outdoors heritage for generations to come.
