Representative Dallman Votes to Prohibit Vaccine Passports

Madison, WI --- State Representative Alex Dallman joined his Assembly colleagues in passing Assembly Bill 299, which prohibits the use of “vaccine passports” for the COVID-19 vaccine by any public or private business.

“Vaccine passports” are considered a physical or digital copy of your medical record showing that you have or have not taken the full doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

“Vaccinations rates are still climbing in the State of Wisconsin, but I still believe the choice to take the vaccine must remain a personal choice. As a state and nation, we have been participating on a long path of education when it comes to COVID-19, its symptoms, its treatment, and ultimately the vaccine that is leading to its cure. Each day we learn more about the virus and the vaccine alike, and people should not be forced to reveal their private medical decisions to the public,” said Representative Dallman. “Not only would these passports trespass on a person’s individual freedom, they could also lead to unlawful discrimination.”

These types of passports could be used to deny entry into businesses, schools, concerts, parks, or any other place a government or private entity wishes to discriminate based on vaccine status.

“When you are forced to show your medical history to gain access into a building, sporting event, or business, your privacy is being stripped away,” said Representative Dallman. “The choice to get vaccinated or not is a personal, medical decision and should not have to be revealed to anyone but yourself and your personal care provider.”

Any individual that violates this prohibition could be fined $500 or jailed for 30 days.
