Representative Dallman Responds to Governor’s Budget Address

Madison, WI ---Tonight, Governor Evers gave his 2023-2025 budget address from the Wisconsin State Assembly chambers. Representative Dallman (R-Green Lake) released the following statement in response to the governor’s address:

“Republican policies have put Wisconsin in a strong fiscal position, despite the economic uncertainty nationwide. Our state has the largest rainy day fund in history with over $1.7 billion while providing $22 billion in tax cuts to the citizens of our state since 2011. Governor Evers’ budget proposal is unrealistic, reckless, and unsustainable. It is foundationally flawed by being built upon substantial new tax increases, the expansion of welfare, and the creation of countless new programs that grows government to a size that we cannot afford.”

“The governor’s budget includes massive amounts of non-fiscal policy that I, personally, believe should not be buried in the budget. Instead, they should be judged on their own merits through the legislative process with broad public input.”

“The legislature will spend the next several months gathering information from citizens across the state to hear their priorities for the next state budget. I am confident our final budget will reflect the values of Wisconsinites, not just Tony Evers’ left-wing base.”

“I look forward to working with my colleagues on the Joint Committee on Finance to create a budget that funds our state’s priorities and successful programs, while also being responsible stewards of taxpayer dollars by defunding programs that are not providing positive outcomes.”

State Representative Alex Dallman was re-elected in November 2022 to serve a second term for Wisconsin's 41st Assembly District which includes parts of Green Lake, Marquette, Adams, Columbia, Sauk, and Waushara counties. Representative Dallman currently serves as a member of the powerful Joint Committee on Finance.
