Representative Dallman Co-Sponsors and Votes for COVID-19 Relief Bill

Madison, WI ---Representative Alex Dallman voted today in favor of Assembly Bill 1 which provides relief to the many individuals and families that have been impacted by COVID-19. There are a number of positive provisions in this bill, such as providing support to the hospitals who are under a great deal of stress with COVID surges, and allowing other healthcare providers such as dentists and pharmacy students to administer the vaccine to patients.

This legislation also works to safeguard Wisconsin citizens from government overreach by placing oversight on unelected health officials so that they will be unable to enact widespread closures without any input from their local, elected government entities. It also grants the Wisconsin State Legislature oversight over any new COVID funds that may be provided from the federal government.

“I am happy to have been able to be a co-sponsor of Assembly Bill 1 and to be able to vote favorably on its passage in the Assembly today” said Representative Dallman. “This bill allows for families to be able to visit their loved ones who have been in isolation in long term care facilities and it provides much needed oversight over unelected officials. I encourage both the State Senate and the Governor to support this bill as there are many constituents who are in immediate need.”

The bill also protects our local businesses and schools from liabilities to hopefully reduce the amount of frivolous lawsuits and will require school districts to have a vote of the school board every two weeks in order to continue providing education in a virtual setting.

The bill is now in the State Senate. If passed through the State Senate, it will head to the desk of Governor Evers to be signed into law.
