Rep. Born Joins Assembly Colleagues in Announcing Priorities for Federal Dollars

This week I joined my Assembly Republican colleagues in announcing how part of $3.2 billion in federal funding from the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 should be prioritized to help Wisconsin residents.

My biggest priority with this federal funding is to direct this money to those who have been hit the hardest, like Wisconsin’s long-term care facilities and their workforce, and putting money back into the hands of the residents of Wisconsin. The people of Wisconsin can spend their money better than the government, which is why the proposal focusing on aid to households is so critical. This is your money and you should be able to spend it.

We outlined a proposal which included aid to households in the form of checks directly back to Wisconsin property owners, investments in Wisconsin’s long-term care facilities and their workforce, and a $500 million investment in broadband expansion. These items are aimed at some of Wisconsin’s hardest hit groups, from homeowners who have had their income impacted over the last year from job loss or reduced hours, to long-term care facilities and their workforce that bore the brunt of the pandemic.

PAVE Receives Check from Wisconsin Counties Association

On Monday I was happy to be a part of the Wisconsin Counties Association (WCA) presenting a check to PAVE in Beaver Dam for their new building.

For more than 40 years, PAVE has been providing safe spaces for members of our community who are going through extremely difficult times. In PAVE’s new building, we can see how additional resources like those from WCA Services, Inc. can help this organization continue to be a lifeline to those in need of help.

Joining me in the picture above is WCA Executive Director Mark O'Connell, Pave Associate Director Kayla Muchka, PAVE Executive Director Ashley Welak, and Ruth Metz, a member of PAVE's Board of Directors.
