GETTING WISCONSIN WORKING AGAIN

This week, Assembly Republicans introduced workforce recovery legislation that encourages unemployed individuals to return-to-work amid a massive, statewide worker shortage. The legislation ends Wisconsin’s participation in federal unemployment compensation enhancement programs that provide a disincentive for returning to work.

Rep. Dittrich was honored to stand with her constituent, Dave, whose business provides non-medical, home healthcare to seniors and the disabled. If ever there were a time we need his business, it's NOW as the elderly continue to be the most vulnerable in the COVID virus. That's why she supports Dave as well as all of our other businesses who have been begging for us to stop the enhanced unemployment benefits.

As of today, 21 other states have opted out of the federal unemployment insurance benefit enhancers, which are already set to expire on September 6, 2021.

UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE CHANGES

On Wednesday, the Joint Committee for Review of Administrative Rules suspended the governor's emergency rule that waived the requirement for people collecting Unemployment Insurance to actively search for work.

These re-instated work search requirements will take effect on Sunday, May 23rd.

Under this action, Wisconsin unemployment compensation program will return to pre-pandemic operations and provide an ongoing safety net for those who need it.
