Congratulations to our Milwaukee Bucks for their first NBA Championship in 50 years!
The 38th Assembly District is not only proud of our NBA Champion team, but we’re also proud of our own Ben Tajnai who was their “good luck charm” national anthem singer and vocalist singing “We Are The Champions” at the victory celebration on Thursday.
Only in America can someone like Giannis Antetokounmpo go from wondering where their next meal come from to achieving the goal of a lifetime.
On Wednesday, Rep. Dittrich had the opportunity to introduce "Kayleigh's Law" in Wisconsin, which affords victims the opportunity to obtain a permanent restraining order against their assailants.
Kayleigh Kozak, after whom the original law in Arizona was named, joined Rep Dittrich along with other victims and advocates to shine a light on this important legislation.
On Thursday, Rep Dittrich enjoyed the privilege of joining constituents in meeting civil rights leader, Bob Woodson.
Thanks to the Badger Institute for inviting Mr. Woodson to challenge us to "Replace Critical Race Theory with Radical Grace Theory!" His wisdom and personal practicality were tremendously motivating and inspiring.
To connect to Mr. Woodson's positive strategies and outcomes, you can visit The Woodson Center.
FOCAL POINT: WI SCHOOLS, IN MORE WAYS THAN ONE
MASKING KIDS?
On Monday, the American Academy of Pediatrics came out with the recommendation to mask children ages 2 and up this upcoming school year.
Parents are already expressing their displeasure with this recommendation. If implemented, we could be looking at another exodus from schools requiring masks again this school year.
At least one district in the 38th Assembly District (Oconomowoc) has made the decision to make masks optional for students. Families will most effectively make their voices heard by starting at their local school board level with policy issues.
EDUCATION DISPARITIES
On Wednesday, The Wisconsin State Journal called out Republicans along with The Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty (WILL) for seeking new solutions to address education disparities that are similar to those recommended by the bipartisan Blue Ribbon Commission on School Funding from 2019.
While Rep. Dittrich’s latest school choice expansion bill was vetoed, she remains committed to improving solid academics and eliminating educational disparities in our state. She looks forward to supporting and working with Congressman Gallagher and WILL to restore Wisconsin’s students to the quality education they deserve.
BATTLE AGAINST ILLICIT DRUGS
Wisconsin takes a stride forward in the battle against illicit drugs: This week Wisconsin learned that we would be receiving approximately $400 million in the nationwide opioid class action suit.
The Milwaukee Bucks aren’t the only athletes that are capturing the attention of Wisconsinites this week. As the Olympics commence in Tokyo, Japan, watch for Team USA competitors with Wisconsin ties.
Rep. Dittrich met with Oconomowoc Police Chief Pfister for a legislative update on Friday. She met with other Waukesha County chiefs in the district back in May to hear concerns and discuss how legislators can partner with police to make Wisconsin communities safe for our citizens and officers alike.
