POST BUDGET FULL COURT PRESS

WHAT ARE WE DOING POST BUDGET?

Constituents have been asking, "What are you up to now that the budget has been passed?". The short answer is now we bring forth a whole host of public policy legislation. Rep. Dittrich's office has been working for months drafting bills that support Wisconsin's families and most vulnerable citizens.

Look for this legislation to come forward with details in the weeks ahead.

POST BUDGET FALL OUT

Despite the passage of the Republican state budget, there continues to be some fallout from the Governor’s recent actions. The following are ways our state continues to see adverse outcomes as a direct result of the governor's veto pen and actions:

PERSONAL PROPERTY TAX VETO

The governor vetoed a bipartisan bill that would have repealed Wisconsin's outdated Personal Property Tax, which businesses pay on things like equipment and furnishings.

Repealing this tax would have made it easier for small business throughout the state to get back on their feet after the pandemic. Every single dollar a small business can save is critical to them and their employees.

REFUSES TO MEET WITH STATE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

Rep. Dittrich is deeply concerned with the governor's continued refusal to meet with the state's chamber of commerce.

"WMC renewed its call for Gov. Evers to meet with its members to talk about solutions to the workforce shortage. In a letter sent on June 14, WMC invited Gov. Evers to discuss the topic with its members and has yet to get a response."

Wisconsin deserves better.

VETOING ELECTION SAFEGUARDS

Even though the Governor VETOED the bill that would ban outside entities funding and taking over the running of local elections, legal cases challenging how our elections were run in the fall of 2020 are weaving their way through the courts.

OFFICE PHONES

Apologies to those who have been reaching out to Rep. Dittrich's office recently. Office phones have been acting up. Staff is regularly checking voicemail anyway, so please bear with us, and leave a message or email if you can't get through. The Legislative Technology Service Bureau is working hard to get the problem rectified.

SPEAK UP, SPEAK OUT

Grateful to the Office of School Safety for this swag promoting the Speak Up Speak Out Wisconsin program. They know Rep. Dittrich supports sound policy to keep our kids safe on every level while they're at school.

FAIR SEASON IS BACK IN SWING

Rep. Dittrich loves seeing all of the youth from our district demonstrating riding skills and showing off the hard work they’ve invested in raising their animals, as well as chatting with constituents at our County and State Fairs.

IN DISTRICT

This week the Oconomowoc Enterprise published an article on Alderman Kevin Ellis’ mission to bring awareness to the stall of the bike tunnel project at Hwy 67 and Oconomowoc Parkway.

To clarify, there is an error in Alex Nemec's article in the Oconomowoc Enterprise this week. He states, "The project faced another roadblock earlier this spring when the topic wasn’t even broached for discussion to have funds included in the state budget to finish it."

As Rep. Dittrich has stated to this reporter multiple times, earmarked, specific projects like the bike tunnel are not usually IN the state budget. Even so, she submitted a budget motion to the Joint Committee on Finance on the outside chance that it might get through. As expected, the motion was later denied.

Since that time, she has relentlessly worked to try and solve this situation with city, county, and state Department of Transportation officials. Her office continues to fight for the good people of the 38th Assembly District on the mismanagement of this project's completion.

That being said, she looks forward to being on site with Alderman Ellis on July 24th to put a spotlight on this issue. We need to continue to raise our voices as a community to get this project completed!
