ADVANCING THROUGH THE NEW YEAR

NEW YEAR, NEW BEGINNINGS

As we begin 2022, there is new legislation to advance, new discussions to have, and new policies to solidify for the good citizens of Wisconsin.

RARE DISEASE ADVISORY COUNCIL LEGISLATION

This upcoming Tuesday, January 11th, the Assembly Committee on Health will hold a public hearing at 10:00 AM in Room 412 E on a number of bills including Rep. Dittrich’s AB 744, forming a Rare Disease Advisory Council.

Rep. Dittrich was honored to meet with Dr. Garrison on Monday to learn about his collaborative work on the overall economic impact of rare disorders and diseases.

SUPPORTING LAW ENFORCEMENT INITIATIVE

When you call for help, will there be a law enforcement officer available to help? This is Assembly Republicans' plan to make sure the answer to that question is "YES."

SCHOOL FUNDING

Our schools were given millions in COVID relief funds to mitigate the spread of the virus and keep kids in school. Now we are seeing some school districts move to remote learning again. If school districts are unable to figure out how to keep their doors open, it would be beneficial for them to consult with the businesses or school districts that have continued to stay open throughout these past two years. Otherwise, they are taking the relief dollars under false pretenses. We cannot go back to shutting our children out of school and the quality education to which they are entitled.

IN MEMORIAM

Tribute from Marshal Fire Department: "Our hearts are broken by the loss of our very own, firefighter Captain Marcos Dominguez. We lost a great friend, a devoted father and husband, and an amazing firefighter yesterday. Marcos is recognized by his peers for his passion for the fire service, working with youth being the department's Public Education Officer, giving back to the community on- and off-duty, and encouraging others to consider a career in firefighting. His selflessness, his kindness, his dedication, his big heart, his large personality, and contributions to the department will be greatly missed. Rest in peace brother, we will take it from here."

The entire 38th Assembly District grieves with the Dominguez family and the Marshall Volunteer Fire Department. By all accounts, Captain Dominguez was a remarkable person and will be sorely missed.
