DOING THE RIGHT THINGS, NO MATTER WHAT

It is no secret that things have been especially contentious in Wisconsin since the 2020 elections. No matter what bantering, name-calling, and erroneous information circulates from others, I will continue to do the next right thing for my constituents, no matter what. I believe in taking in accurate information and seeking the truth before I rush to judgment or make public comments. When evidence does come forth, like the report we received this fall from the Legislative Audit Bureau, I proceed from there.

It greatly pains me to see so much conflict on every side in our state, and my hope is that we can settle this matter soon so that every Wisconsin voter can feel confident that the integrity of their vote has not been undermined. Until that time, I will continue to be hard at work on the public policy matters that I have kept you updated on throughout my tenure in the Legislature.

ASSEMBLY FLOOR ACTION

ASSEMBLY BILL 86

Rep. Dittrich is happy to let constituents know that her bill with Wisconsin State Senator Mary Felzkowski, AB 86/SB 98, safeguarding complementary alternative health care has passed the Assembly as is headed to the Senate floor early next week to be concurred. From there, it will head to the governor's desk for his signature.

SENATE ACTION

KAYLEIGH'S LAW

Rep. Dittrich is also thrilled to let constituents know that her victims rights bill, Kayleigh's Law, passed through the Senate Committee on Judiciary and Public Safety this week, bringing Wisconsin one step closer to lifetime restraining orders as an option for rape victims.

STANDING UP FOR EDUCATION

Rep. Dittrich Receives Inaugural Award

Rep. Dittrich was humbled and surprised to be awarded the inaugural 2021 Common Sense Award by Common Sense Wisconsin for being the first Wisconsin legislator to sign the Education Freedom Pledge. She pledges to support policies that promote parental rights in education and educational freedom. This includes the right of parents to voice their opinions at school board meetings and to take their children's taxpayer-funded education dollars to the education providers of their choosing - whether it be a public, private, charter, or home school.

As a veteran supporter of School Choice, Rep. Dittrich believes that tax dollars should fund students, not systems, and that parents know best when it comes to raising and teaching their children. Especially in an era where students have been locked out of in-person learning and racial disparities have exponentially grown, parents deserve to have the widest possible range of education options when it comes to deciding where to send their children.

WORKFORCE LEGISLATION

A STRONGER WORKFORCE

This week, Rep. Dittrich's hardworking Legislative Republican colleagues introduced the STRONGER WORKFORCE Initiative to address the extreme worker shortage in our state. There’s an abundance of high-wage jobs and, at the same time, a large number of workers available. This package of bills helps remove the government-created barriers between the two.

Rep. Dittrich has signed onto this legislation as a co-author.

TEACHING APPRENTICESHIP

It is wonderful to see this effort making a positive impact on people's lives. Last session, Sen Jacque and Rep. Dittrich saw their bill signed into law expanding the career clusters for youth apprenticeships to include education. It is exciting to see this remarkable program working as it is expanded to the high school level.
