PROGRESS AND PROBLEMS

THE GOOD

COURT RIDE-ALONG

Rep. Dittrich had the opportunity to witness first hand a legal proceeding regarding safe haven and child relinquishment.

Special thanks to State Bar of Wisconsin and Attorney Peter Bruce for arranging a court "ride-along". Rep. Dittrich believes It is so critical for legislators to see the full impact of the laws they introduce and pass.

COMMITTEE ON CONSUMER PROTECTION

This week, Rep. Dittrich was extremely pleased to have the first pieces of legislation of this session pass unanimously through the Assembly Committee on Consumer Protection, of which she serves as chair.

VOTER INTEGRITY

There have been few topics as contentious as the integrity of the 2020 elections. The legislature has received one thorough forensic audit report from the Legislative Audit Bureau detailing irregularities, improper procedures, and recommendations for improvement.

Meanwhile, Michael Gableman continues his investigation and the Assembly Committee on Campaigns and Elections continues its investigation. This week, a report on a private 10-month investigation was released. As evidence comes forward, it is more apparent that weaknesses in procedures and state statute were exploited to the advantage of one political party. While Republicans have attempted to remedy this via legislation, Tony Evers has no desire to clean up elections so that every Wisconsinite can feel confident in the result of their vote.

Rep. Dittrich continues to ask for the removal of Megan Wolfe at Wisconsin Elections Commission along with several commissioners. She also favors taking a look at a possible constitutional amendment that would standardize elections in all 72 counties and could go directly to the voters for approval rather than the governor who has been obstructing the election justice.

WILL ELECTION UPDATE

Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty's 10-month investigation of the 2020 election largely revealed the same irregularities and vulnerabilities as the previously released Legislative Audit Bureau Report. Rep. Dittrich is eager to clean up our process to restore the confidence of every Wisconsin voter.

COMMITTEE ON CAMPAIGNS AND ELECTIONS

The Assembly Committee on Campaigns and Elections held multiple informational hearings this week. The committee continues to reveal improprieties similar to the LAB audit and WILL investigation, additionally exposing that the WI Elections Commission (WEC) gave the Center for Tech and Civic Life (CTCL) full access to information that was not given to Republican groups. While not currently illegal, this behavior is certainly unethical and tips an election advantage in one direction.

US SUPREME COURT RULING ON TEXAS ABORTION LAW

Even though last Friday Gov. Tony Evers vetoed bills preserving life for babies and routinely providing parents with information when their child receives a prenatal diagnosis, the US Supreme Court did the right thing this week with the Texas legislation.

THE FRUSTRATING

LEGISLATURE SENDS LETTER TO DA CHISHOLM

In concert with the Waukesha County legislative delegation, and consistent with her previous call for removal, Rep. Dittrich formally made her request known in a letter to Gov. Evers. DA Chisholm has a history of being soft on serious, repeat offenders, and those outside of Milwaukee County are paying the price for it.

TRANSGENDER SWIMMER SMASHES RECORDS

Wisconsin female athletes continue to worry about being robbed of their earned awards, being "canceled", or called a "transphobe" if they stand up against this injustice. Rep. Dittrich's "Protecting Women's in Sports" legislation (AB 196) was killed in the Senate Committee on Human Services, Children and Families. Be sure to let your Senator know that you want women's athletics preserved for biological women.

VEHICLE THEFTS/BREAK-INS CONTINUE

There have been a rash of car break-ins in the district recently. It's a good time to remind you once again, remove valuables from your car at night, including the remote for your garage, and lock the vehicle. Always report a break-in to police, even if you don't think anything of great value was taken. This helps police in tracking the offenders.
