Governor Evers continues to show how out-of-touch he is with Wisconsinites
VETOING POLICE
Wisconsinites of all political persuasions support our law enforcement and want safe communities. When certain municipalities cut funding for their officers, crime spills over into our more responsible communities. It is a sad statement that our governor refuses to see that.
Gov. Evers vetoed a bill that would have decreased shared revenue payments to municipalities who cut funding to their police departments. With crime rates rising throughout the country, making political statements by defunding the police is foolish and irresponsible.
Unfortunately, the governor disagrees.
VETOING ELECTION INTEGRITY
Well, no big surprise here. We all knew that Tony Evers neither likes to follow the law nor provide election integrity. Now we have him on record proving that he is not trustworthy.
MU LAW SCHOOL POLL RESULTS
Is it any wonder the same poll revealed the majority of respondents thought both federal and state government are "broken"?
These poll results reflect some of the same things Rep. Dittrich hears frequently as she's out in the district. And she continues to work in the legislature in a way that is responsive to the majority of her constituents.
ABUSING THE UNEMPLOYED
When desperate Wisconsinites are describing Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development as "downright snippy" when they reach out for help, we don't have a computer problem, we have a CULTURE problem.
As medical advice shifts and new COVID-19 outbreaks begin to rise again, citizens, consumers, and workers are both skeptical and confused. Here is some of the information you will want to know as you make the best decisions for your own personal well-being.
VACCINE EFFICACY
Be an informed consumer. It would appear that different vaccines have different efficacy rates. If you are immune compromised, you may want to take advantage of a booster as approved. Regardless, it appears from early results that those who test positive after receiving a vaccination still experience a less severe form of the illness.
Dr. Makary is a professor at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and is Editor-in-Chief of Medpage Today. He offers a balanced and nuanced look at the issue of masking school-aged children.
Our office is receiving more and more contacts from health care and other workers regarding vaccine mandates. While we are unable to give specific legal advice, there are Facebook groups set up for mutual support.
Rep. Dittrich stands with citizens who believe in personal medical autonomy and freedom. At the same time, the law is on the side of private employers. We will continue to assist constituents in working on this situation.
OTHER CHALLENGES
OPIOID OVERDOSES
Opioid overdoses nearly doubled since the arrival of COVID-19. We must not ignore the social and emotional toll lockdowns and anxiety are having as a result of the pandemic.
As Rep. Dittrich has stated before, if your school district is pushing things like "white privilege," "equity" (not equality), or "systemic racism," then the racist dogma of CRT is already being taught, even if it is not specifically named as such. This week, the Joint Committee on Education heard bills related to stopping this sort of indoctrination and historically inaccurate hate.
Kudos once again to our first responders! Amidst Tuesday night's serious weather, Johnson Creek Fire & EMS Department were battling a home fire caused by a lightning strike with the assistance of MABAS (Mutual Aid Box Alarm System) partners from Lake Mills, Watertown, and Whitewater. Thanks for keeping our communities safe amidst danger.
Heartfelt good wishes to retiring Town of Oconomowoc Police Department Chief Jim Wallace. Thanks to his leadership and team, the Town of Oconomowoc was named Wisconsin's safest town for four years. Jim was a pleasure to work with and will be sorely missed by a grateful community.
WISCONSIN HERO OUTDOORS
What an honor to once again present our Wisconsin Hero Outdoors with American flags flown over the Wisconsin State Capitol and thank them for their service today at the annual Big Bass Battle. It is such a gift to spend time chatting with the volunteers, the guides, and the veterans.
WELCOMING HANS
Pouring into our next generation of leaders is a privilege Rep. Dittrich doesn't take lightly. This week she was thrilled to welcome Hans as her fifth intern since first running for election. He is an Eagle Scout and smart problem solver. We're very excited to have him join our team!
LADISH CENTER RIBBON CUTTING
Rep. Dittrich was grateful to attend the ribbon cutting at the new Ladish Center at Rogers Behavioral Health which will both house research in one areal and serve families of those on treatment in another area. The partnership they have established with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Wisconsin is especially exciting. We are so fortunate to have these resources in our area.
OPPORTUNITIES INC APPRENTICESHIP GRADUATES
Rep. Dittrich had a great time meeting with and congratulating Jerad as well as the other eight young adults who had just completed the Opportunities, Inc. 12 week Workplace Readiness Apprenticeship program yesterday!
She loves how this program specializes in equipping students of diverse abilities to launch their careers. We NEED these remarkable people connected in our workforce.
SURGICAL CENTER TOUR
Getting around the district is so critically important to gain command of issues facing constituents every day. Rep. Dittrich was grateful for the tour of one of our outpatient surgical centers with these kind people. It is amazing to her how costs can be contained and outcomes improved when patients are able to use these facilities.
