FOCUS ON HOPE BEYOND ADDICTION

Drug Take Back Day

Don’t forget that Saturday 4/24 is Drug Take Back Day!

The 38th Assembly District has TEN different locations to drop off unused prescription medications.

HOPE Agenda

Rep. Dittrich is joining forces with Rep. Shannon Zimmerman (R – River Falls) to carry on the work of former Rep. John Nygren with the H.O.P.E. (Heroin, Opioid, Prevention & Education) Agenda.

On Monday, April 19th, Rep. Dittrich held her first stakeholder meeting to discuss goals and areas that are most important to address next in this community, state, and nationwide battle. She looks forward to working with Rep. Zimmerman, developing meaningful steps to help citizens prevent or overcome the burden of addiction in the months ahead.

CDC Reports Drug Overdose Increase

Work on the HOPE Agenda can’t come soon enough.

CDC: Wisconsin Sees 27% Increase of Fatal Drug Overdoses In 1 Year

Your Choice to Live Alcohol and Drug Awareness Program

In case you missed it, WISN 12 NEWS did an important presentation with the 38th Assembly District's own Your Choice to Live Alcohol and Drug Awareness Program. This article/video has great resources for individuals and their families in the midst of a struggle with addiction.

WORK IN THE ASSEMBLY ADVANCING THIS WEEK

Speaker's Task Force on Racial Disparities

The Speaker’s Task Force on Racial Disparities released its recommendations this week. Bipartisan legislation will be presented in the weeks ahead.

School Choice Expansion

Rep. Dittrich testified Wednesday before the Senate Education Committee on her school choice expansion bill (AB 59/SB 41) with Sen. Dale Kooyenga.

State Budget

Joint Committee on Finance VIRTUAL Public Hearing

The Joint Committee on Finance will hold their VIRTUAL budget listening session on Wednesday, April 28th.

Registration is closed but individuals can watch on WisEYE.

Foxconn Renegotiation

Given the level of activity this week, you may have missed the latest information on the Foxconn renegotiation. Rep. Dittrich always wanted the Foxconn partnership to succeed to the benefit of Wisconsinites. Let's hope these new terms are ones that can be met.

Speaker Vos shared his thoughts on the renegotiation this week, "Despite all of the liberal criticism when the initial agreement was passed, this amendment actually gives the company even more financial incentives than the original did."

Governor Evers Veto

Instead of working with us on funding critical needs that both the Legislature and the Governor agree upon, Tony Evers once again chose his go-it-alone behavior. The next time you find yourself frustrated about a lack of bipartisanship in Wisconsin, remember how many times the governor has refused to work with a duly elected, co-equal branch of government. Legislative Republicans will NOT give up in listening to our constituents and working on issues you care about most.

ADDITIONALLY: Governor Evers vetoed two bills today; AB 23 would have prohibited a government entity from requiring individuals get the COVID-19 vaccine. AB 24 would have not allowed public health officials to close churches and places of worship.

BEYOND THE CAPITOL

Respite Care Association of Wisconsin

Rep. Dittrich was recently appointed to the Board of the Respite Care Association of Wisconsin. She is honored to be able to use her decades of experience in the special needs community to advance the needs of those requiring respite care in Wisconsin.
