You may not be aware, but Wisconsin has a ridiculous amount of regulatory red tape in place, making it difficult for employees and employers alike. As a co-sponsor of SB 344, Rep. Dittrich applauds the fact that Gov. Evers signed it into law, making it easier for our state's interior designers to operate.
Waukesha State Rep. Scott Allen fought relentlessly to have the Kai Lermer Bill, detecting hidden cardiac issues in youth athletes, passed and signed into law. The Governor completed the circle by signing the legislation at Waukesha North High School this week.
Late in the day on March 31, Gov. Evers vetoed a number of bills including one that would allow students in Pre-K, Kindergarten, and First Grade in choice schools to advance a grade in a certain subject or an entire grade level based on their academic ability, just as their peers who attend public schools are already able to do under the law.
Gov. Evers also basically condoned the graffiti, smashing, destruction, and burning that took place in 2020 and goes beyond peaceful protest in our state.
Rep. Dittrich was thrilled to learn that several municipalities in the Jefferson County portion of the district have been awarded rural broadband grants.
Rep. Dittrich appreciated the impromptu visit with Steve McConkey of 4 Winds USA, who shared his decades of experience in the sports world and concerns about women's sports with her this week.
MARIJUANA RESEARCH
On the flip side of Friday’s statement on marijuana legalization, Rep. Dittrich absolutely supports a recent federal marijuana research bill. This is long past due. Part of the representative’s beef with the entire pot issue has been the fact that our federal government has resources like the NIH and FDA to study efficacy and adverse effects, and they have not used those resources prior to this legislation. Rep. Dittrich wants citizens on every side of this issue to be SAFE when it is legalized.
Think that illegal border crossings don't affect you? Wisconsin just legalized fentanyl test strips because of this crisis, but that won't completely eliminate this problem.
AROUND THE STATE
ELECTIONS
A new lawsuit has been filed in regards to elder abuse that was exposed at a recent public hearing of the Assembly Committee on Campaigns and Elections. This is one area regarding the elections where Rep. Dittrich believes serious improvements need to be made. Previous attempts to rectify the problem have been vetoed by Gov. Evers.
Legislative maps still await a decision by the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Friday, the court rejected Gov. Evers’ attempt to get them to once again take up his maps.
Rep. Dittrich and her husband recently snuck away for a 2-day break in Door County. It was their first time visiting the newly reconstructed, first fully accessible State Park Tower, Eagle Tower, at Peninsula State Park. This tower was funded by both tax dollars and private donations. It truly is a Wisconsin treasure and Rep. Dittrich recommends the tower as a “must see.”
Congratulations to the 38th's own Jonathan Green for being named as one of the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association's 2022 Local Broadcast Legends! Anyone fortunate enough to know him personally knows he is more than a legend; he's a wonderful human being.
BLUE BOOK DELIVERIES
Our team had a great day in the district delivering state blue books to municipal buildings and schools. Rep. Dittrich was so humbled by the warm greetings and great conversations with clerks, librarians, students and teachers.
