The Wall that Heals Speech
The following is a speech given by Representative Mursau on June first to commemorate The Wall That Heals Vietnam Memorial coming to Crivitz:
Good morning.
We’d like to welcome everyone here today and make this morning and the days ahead an opportunity to learn, remember, and share with one another.
This is the 28th season of the Wall That Heals exhibit, which started earlier this year in California and will visit 32 communities across the country. We’re honored to have the exhibit once again come to Crivitz.
The Wall that Heals exhibit is a three-quarter replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial as well as an education center. The traveling exhibit honors the more than three million Americans who served in the U.S. Armed Forces in the Vietnam War and lists the names of the 58,281 men and women who gave their lives or remain missing.
Many Vietnam veterans, for reasons personal to them, haven’t been able to travel to Washington D.C to view the memorial wall. This exhibit is an opportunity for us to bring the wall to them.
Its understandable that the exhibit will generate a great deal of emotion for many people in our community and I know we stand together to support everyone here today.
