Mursau Selected for Rural Schools Task Force

Madison … Wisconsin Assembly Representative Jeff Mursau (R – Crivitz) has been selected to serve on the Assembly Speaker’s Task Force on Rural Schools. Speaker Robin Vos (R – Racine) selected Mursau due to his experience securing federal forest funding for rural schools. Representative Rob Swearingen (R – Rhinelander) will lead the group.

“Some rural school challenges are very different from those in urban areas,” Mursau said. “I remain committed to helping all our school children the best we can.”

The task force will focus on:
-Creating partnerships among school districts;
-Exploring new avenues to share innovations, efficiencies and best-practices;
-Addressing future transportation needs;
-Mapping out strategies for long-term financial stability;
-Developing tactics for handling declining enrollment; and
-Maximizing opportunities to incorporate advanced technology

“Jeff Mursau knows how to dig deep into a problem and look for solutions,” Vos said. “He’s a valuable asset for northwoods residents and this bipartisan panel.”

The task force includes both Democrats and Republicans. It will hold meetings in Rhinelander and Merrill in the near future.
