Special Notice: Paddlewheel Bill to Receive Public Hearing on April 28
Last session, I'd worked with Rep. Murphy and Senator Jacque on a bill that would legalize the use of paddlewheel raffles for local fundraising events like meat raffles, as they currently are illegal. While unfortunately the bill did not get signed into law last session, because of the continued interest in seeing this fixed, it was re-introduced this session to try and get it passed.
I'm pleased to share that the bill, Assembly Bill 171, has now been scheduled for a public hearing in the Assembly Committee on State Affairs on Wednesday, April 28 at 10:30am, and be held in the North Hearing Room (2nd Floor North) of the state capitol. Folks from around the state are welcome to come and share their thoughts and testimony on this bill. For those who can't attend but would still like to share testimony, written testimony can be sent to the State Affair's Committee Chair, Rep. Swearingen at: Rep.Swearingen@legis.wisconsin.gov. It's my hope that we can again show to the committee why this is a bill we need to get passed this session.
