On Wednesday, the Assembly Committee on State Affairs convened in a public hearing on two bills:
Assembly Bill 376: relating to a statewide urban search and rescue task force, emergency response teams, and making an appropriation
Assembly Bill 487: relating to delivery network couriers and transportation network drivers, Department of Financial Institutions' approval to offer portable benefit accounts, providing for insurance coverage, and granting rule-making authority
We had a wide range of individuals, groups, and companies who made the trip to the capitol to testify on these bills, ranging from law enforcement and first responders to contractors and representatives from app-based companies. Thank you to everyone who testified and provided the committee with their impactful statements.
Next up, the committee will need to hold an executive session to potentially advance these bills so that they may be scheduled for a vote on the Assembly floor.

On Tuesday, the Assembly Committee on Housing and Real Estate held an executive session on three bills and a public hearing on one bill.
Executive Session:
Assembly Bill 208: relating to maintenance and repair of private roads
Assembly Bill 247: relating to extension of certain approvals and occupancy permits under the uniform dwelling code, extension of certain approvals that are subject to administrative, judicial, or appellate proceedings, waiver of interest and penalties on late 2021 property tax payments, and waiver of the timely payment requirement for filing certain property tax claims
Assembly Bill 399: relating to interest on claims of excessive and for recovery of unlawful property taxes
AB208, AB247 and AB399 all passed in their executive session and can now be scheduled for a vote on the Assembly floor.
Public Hearing:
Assembly Bill 340: relating to limitations of actions regrading real estate appraisal services
Now that this bill has had a public hearing, it will need to pass through an executive session by the committee in order to reach the Assembly floor.
Remembering 9/11
Saturday commemorates the 20-year anniversary of 9/11.
On this day, we all have an obligation to honor those 2,996 Americans who lost their lives, every law enforcement and first responder who's heroic actions saved countless people, and the incredible men and women who took their call of duty to serve and protect this nation from radical Islamic terrorism.
With that being said, we have various events throughout the 34th Assembly District commemorating 9/11. I encourage all of my constituents to attend one of these events, and do your part in honoring the victims and heroes of this tragic day in American history.
