Congratulations to Florence County Economic Development (FCED) for being awarded a $3,800 Joint Effort Marketing (JEM) grant from the Wisconsin Department of Tourism. The grant will help FCED support marketing initiatives to advertise the great tourism opportunities available on Northern Wisconsin’s Wild Rivers - the Pine and Popple Rivers. The aptly named “FUN on the Wild Rivers” campaign is set to run through October and is estimated to attract up to 700 visitors to the area, generating an estimated $58,400 in visitor spending. Florence County has so much to offer, and the JEM grant will only help others experience this wonderful corner of Wisconsin. Great job to all involved in securing this grant!

Rhinelander Rotary Club Welcomes K-9 Unit Officer
Last week, the Rhinelander Rotary Club welcomed Rhinelander K-9 Unit Officer Chad Brown as the keynote speaker. I would like to thank Officer Brown for his insightful speech regarding the benefits of a professional K-9 unit. I would also like to thank the entire Rhinelander Police Department for their selfless service in keeping our community safe. The K-9 Unit is not a taxpayer funded entity and is instead completely reliant on community donations. If you would like to support the Rhinelander Police Department's K-9 Unit, please contact the Department directly.

Monico Fire Department Annual Fireman's Picnic
I had the chance to attend the Monico Fire Department’s annual fireman’s picnic last week. As usual, the organizers put together a great event that saw all proceeds go to the Fire Department’s efforts to buy new equipment. Great to see so many in the community come out in support of our firefighters.
Robert Briggs and his son Ben are both volunteer firefighters. Both are extremely passionate about serving the community, and I enjoyed my time speaking with them during the picnic.
Great turnout for the picnic. I hope everyone enjoyed the day!
The funds raised during the picnic will help pay for new equipment.
