Rep. Loudenbeck Supports Audit of State Highway Program
Madison –Rep. Loudenbeck (R-Clinton) applauds the Joint Legislative Audit Committee vote today to approve an audit of the State Highway Program, which is administered by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
"As a member of the Joint Committee on Finance, I am deeply invested in making sure our tax dollars are spent prudently and responsibly. The audit will provide an opportunity to evaluate the management and efficiency of our state highway program. Specifically, the audit will provide information about changing trends in the program; potential improvements to DOT's planning, design, design, construction, and maintenance processes; evaluation of estimated costs; assessment of performance measures; and compliance with past audit report recommendations," said Rep. Loudenbeck.
DOT is responsible for planning, designing, constructing and maintaining the approximately 12,000 miles of Wisconsin's state highways, including interstate highways. During the 2013-15 biennium, revenue that supported the State Highway Program totaled approximately $3.6 billion.
