Spring Survey

I sincerely value constituent input regarding the proposed state budget. I encourage constituents to complete my spring survey as it will help inform my decisions on how to modify and improve the budget proposal.

The survey was mailed to a random sample of voting households in the 31st Assembly District. The survey is also available on my website by clicking here.

Beekeeping is vital to agriculture in Wisconsin. In recognition of the important role that beekeeping plays in production agriculture, I recently introduced a bill that will define beekeeping in state statute and will provide beekeepers with the same sales and use tax exemptions that already exist for other farming businesses.

Bees play an important and under-appreciated role in the world’s food supply chain. Many of the foods that we all enjoy, like cranberries, broccoli, squash, apples, coffee and almonds, are reliant on pollination by bees. In fact, of the top 100 crop species that provide nearly 90% of the global food supply, 71 of those crops are pollinated by bees. Not to mention, the two important direct products that bees provide, honey and wax.

The bill has been turned in and is waiting to be formally introduced in the Senate and Assembly.
