Appointed to Finance as Vice Co-Chair

I am excited to share that I have been re-appointed to the Joint Committee on Finance by Speaker Robin Vos and will also be serving as the committee's Vice Co-Chair.  I am honored and humbled to be selected and look forward to working with a great team of highly qualified individuals to create a budget that's good for everyone in Wisconsin. The Joint Committee on Finance is a statutory, 16-member standing committee of the Wisconsin Legislature. The committee's primary responsibility is to serve as the principal legislative committee charged with the review of all state appropriations and revenues.  

WEDC's Impact

The Chief Executive Officer of the Wisconsin Economic Development Organization recently addressed the Beloit Rotary Club to talk about the agency’s role in economic and workforce development in Wisconsin and to highlight local projects that have been supported by WEDC. Local media was in attendance and filed the following articles - Beloit Daily NewsLeader Wants Evers to Keep Workforce Organization and Janesville GazetteWEDC Chief Hopes Evers Keeps Job Creation Agency in Place.

WEDC works with more than 600 statewide partners, including regional economic development organizations, academic institutions and industry groups to maximize Wisconsin's potential. Since WEDC was created in 2011, WEDC awards have supported 66 projects and 5,466 projected jobs in Rock County and 30 projects and 881 projected jobs in Walworth County. In the 31st Assembly District, WEDC awards have supported 17 projects and a projected 1,065 jobs. 2018 Capitol Christmas Tree

The 2018 State Capitol Christmas Tree is a 35-foot Balsam fir donated by Mary and Don Miller of Plainfield, Wisconsin. The Great Lakes Timber Professionals Association provided harvesting and transportation. Public and private schools throughout Wisconsin donated the handmade ornaments that adorn the tree. The Capitol Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will be on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 from noon to 1pm. Make sure to stop by and see it if you're in Madison!

Executive Residence Holiday Tours

Each year, the Executive Residence is decorated with several Christmas Trees and other festive decor. It's a great time to visit and tour if you haven't been there before. The Executive Residence, 99 Cambridge Road, is open to the public for tours on Saturday, December 1st from 10 AM to 2 PM, Saturday, December 8th from 10 AM to Noon, Wednesday, December 12th from Noon – 2 PM, Thursday, December 13th from Noon to 2 PM, Wednesday, December 19th from Noon to 2 PM, Thursday, December 20th from Noon to 2 PM.

The 2018 State Capitol Ornaments are now available for sale ($20) at the Rotunda Information Desk.
