Income Tax Cut Proposal

Yesterday, I joined my Assembly Republican colleagues in announcing plans to deliver $340 million in income tax relief to benefit working families across Wisconsin.

I’m proud that our budgeting the last several years has resulted in a budget surplus that we will now be able to return to the hard working taxpayers. I have always been a big fan of allowing people to keep more of their hard earned money. Our plan does this without raising taxes in other areas and will provide more disposable income for working families, which will benefit all sectors of Wisconsin’s economy.

The proposed tax reductions are targeted to individuals making less than $100,000 and families earning $150,000 or less. The nonpartisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau projects the median income family filing jointly would see a $310 reduction in net taxes.

Pre-Existing Conditions & State of the State

Tuesday January 22nd is the first floor period of the 2019-2020 Legislative Session which begins at 1 pm. Governor Evers will deliver the State of the State address at 7 pm.  As promised, the Assembly is beginning the session with a vote on Assembly Bill 1 relating to: coverage for individuals with pre-existing conditions. I plan to vote in favor of AB-1 which passed out of committee with bipartisan support.
