Shannon Zimmerman to Represent Western Wisconsin on Powerful Budget Committee

(Madison) Today, Representative Shannon Zimmerman (R-River Falls) accepted an appointment to the Joint Committee on Finance, the Legislature’s powerful budget writing committee.

“The biggest news here is that Western Wisconsin once again has a seat at the table,” said Rep. Zimmerman. “My predecessors Kitty Rhoades and Dean Knudson both served us extraordinarily well and I’m honored to take on that role. Western Wisconsin is dynamic, growing and unique in so many ways.  All the more reason I am excited to help guide state policy and shape the future of Wisconsin.”

The Joint Committee on Finance is a 16-member standing committee of the Wisconsin Legislature, with the responsibility to review all state appropriations and revenues. After the Governor introduces his budget, the bill is introduced into the Committee for review.

“While we may not agree on everything, I’m looking forward to working with Governor Evers,” said Zimmerman. “As a self-made business man, I’ve made deals with people around the world, and I know that my Republican colleagues and I will work to find common ground on what’s best for Western Wisconsin and the state as a whole.”

Rep. Zimmerman will serve alongside fellow Republicans Rep. John Nygren (R-Marinette), Rep. Amy Loudenbeck (R-Clinton), Rep. Mark Born (R-Beaver Dam), Rep. Mike Rohrkaste (R-Neenah), and Rep. Terry Katsma (R-Oostburg).

“These fiscal conservatives bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the committee,” said Speaker Vos. “I’m confident that these six representatives will the serve state of Wisconsin and taxpayers well.”
