One of the great things about being a Representative is the ability to recognize the good work of people, organizations, and businesses across the district. I enjoy writing Saw You In The News cards each week to the folks whose accomplishments, milestones, and work helping the community we see in the newspaper.
Prioritizing In-Person Learning
Yesterday, I joined my colleagues in the Assembly to request that Governor Evers direct $20.8 million in additional federal Emergency Educational Relief dollars to school districts that have been providing in-person instruction to their students.
When COVID hit last year, our schools had to take pre-cautions and switch to virtual learning and we commend their work to do so. Now, nearly a year later many school districts across the state have done the hard work to get kids back in the classroom for in-person learning. Their work is to be commended and supported.
They made the investments and put procedures into place to make sure the learning and teaching environments are safe. Directing these additional federal dollars to these schools will help mitigate those costs and encourage school districts to get kids back in the classroom.

This Week in Committee
On Wednesday, the Assembly Committee on Energy and Utilities will hold an Executive Session to pass AB 27, the omnibus bill from the Public Service Commission. This legislation is worked on jointly to streamline operations in the agency and improve interactions between regulators and the community.
Thank you to all those who took the time to testify in our public hearing last week and give us an update on your work and this important legislation. Testimony given and submitted for the bill can be found here.
Vaccine Update
As vaccine distribution continues, both Manitowoc and Sheboygan County updates are a helpful resource for those with questions about local information and availability.
Glad to see Elkhart Lake listed as a great Midwest destination to visit for families. With lots to see and do, it is definitely a solid choice. This listing came from an online publication by Chicago Parent. As the snow continues to melt and temperatures begin to warm, I hope folks from across Wisconsin and the rest of the country come see what we have to offer here in our section of the state.
