Repealing Obsolete Tax Provisions 

This week I was able to testify at a hearing on a bill I authored, Senate Bill (SB) 362, which will complete the repeal of tax credits that may no longer be claimed.

As part of the 2013-15 state budget bill, in an effort to simplify Wisconsin’s tax laws, the Legislature sunset many refundable tax credits such as the Meat Processing Facility Investment Credit and the Dairy Manufacturing Facility Investment Credit. This bill finally takes these credits, which can no longer be claimed, off the books.

SB 362 is one more step in the direction of making taxation smaller, simpler and easier. This bill will remove approximately 19 pages from our enormous statute books, and continues the years of work that Republicans have put in to simplify our tax laws.

Speaking to the Wisconsin Milk Haulers Association

On Saturday, I spoke at the Wisconsin Milk Haulers Association conference at Blue Harbor Resort in Sheboygan.

I was able to discuss the great things that we accomplished in the state budget, such as the increase in transportation aid and the investment in the Dairy Innovation Hub.

I would like to thank the Wisconsin Milk Haulers Association for the invitation, and appreciate the important work that they do for Wisconsin's dairy industry!
