Day at the Fair!

I had a great time during the opening day of the Sheboygan County Fair. The day started with exhibitors displayed the hard work that they put into their animal projects. I was able to watch the sheep and beef shows before heading off to the annual cream puff eating contest, which I sadly did not win. I ended the day by working at the 4-H food stand, helping sell milkshakes to support the local 4-H clubs.

The Sheboygan County Fair is a great way to spend your Labor Day Weekend. The fair goes until Labor Day on September 2nd, and I hope to see you there!

As always, I encourage you to follow my updates on social media or contact my office directly with your questions. Best wishes on your weekend!

Growing the Rainy Day Fund

The non-partisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau (LFB) released the preliminary 2018-19 general fund tax collections.

Due to revenues being higher than estimates, we were able to add more than $320 million to the rainy day fund, also known as the Budget Stabilization Fund. When final reports are tallied in October, this fund will reach a total of $649.1 million, the largest in Wisconsin history.

Wisconsin continues to see the positive effects of the past eight years of Republican leadership. While Wisconsin has been seeing a growing economy, it is important to be prepared for possible economic downturn. By continuing to grow the rainy day fund, we are making sure that Wisconsin is prepared for the future.

firstresponderaward.jpgDon't Forget: "First Responder of the Year" Nominations

If you know of a First Responder that deserves special recognition, you can nominate them for the "First Responder of the Year" Award. My office will be accepting nominations of police officers, sheriff's deputies, firefighters and EMS providers, both volunteer or paid.

The nomination can be predicated on a variety of factors including a specific heroic action, a significant professional achievement, community work and/or length of service.

To nominate a local hero for the 26th Assembly District, please fill out the nomination form and email it to my office at Rep.Katsma@legis.wisconsin.gov by September 6th.
