The First 100 Days

On Monday I traveled to UW-River Falls for the third of four public hearings to discuss Governor Evers' budget. We heard from over 250 people discussing issues ranging from the school choice program to the need for innovation in the agriculture industry. The Joint Committee on Finance will be hosting their final public hearing on April 24th at UW-Green Bay.

Remember that if you are unable to attend you can send written comments to the Committee at budgetcomments@legis.wisconsin.gov or mailed to Committee Clerk Joe Malkasian, Room 305 East, State Capitol, Madison, WI 53702.

This week also marked the 100 day mark in this session and Governor Evers' administration. In the first 100 days of this session the State Assembly has accomplished a lot! We passed a $340 million middle class income tax cut, protected the MAC tax credit promoting Wisconsin's businesses and passed a bill that protects Wisconsinites with pre-existing medical conditions.

The Governor's first 100 days were spent breaking campaign promises and working to undo the last eight years of progress. Since the Governor was sworn into office he vetoed the middle income tax cut, proposed a budget that increases taxes by $1.2 billion, and has proposed significantly rolling back educational opportunities for all of Wisconsin's children by limiting the school choice program.

I continue to hope to work with the governor to pass legislation and a budget that helps Wisconsin move forward as a state, while also protecting the ideals that make Wisconsin great! As always, I encourage you to follow my updates on social media or contact my office directly with your questions. Best wishes on your weekend!
