Bill Signing.jpg

Banking and Tax Reform Signed into Law

Two pieces of legislation I authored, one of which helps Wisconsin's financial institutions operate in today's economy, while the other completes the repeal of tax credits that may no longer be claimed, have been signed into law by Governor Tony Evers.

As I discussed in a previous e-update, Senate Bill 457, now 2019 Act 65, makes several changes to statutes that will streamline and modernize operations within the financial services industry, and increases protections for consumers.

Additionally, Senate Bill 362, now 2019 Act 54, finishes action that started in the 2013-15 budget to make taxation in Wisconsin smaller, simpler and easier. This bills takes many refundable tax credits which can no longer be claimed, such as the Meat Processing Facility Investment Credit and the Dairy Manufacturing Facility Investment Credit, off the books.

Check out my full statement on the signings.

As always, I encourage you to follow my updates on social media or contact my office directly with your questions. Best wishes on your weekend and have a happy Thanksgiving!

I encourage everyone to celebrate Small Business Saturday by shopping at small and local stores. This day, which falls on November 30th this year, is meant to encourage holiday shoppers to patronize the more than 448,000 local shops in Wisconsin that employ 1.2 million people.
