Meet Terry

Representative Terry Katsma was elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly to represent the 26th Assembly District in November 2014. He began his first two-year term in January 2015 and has been re-elected since.

Terry was born and raised in Sheboygan, WI, where he graduated from Sheboygan County Christian High School. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Dordt College, before proceeding to earn his M.B.A. at Marquette University. After college, Terry returned to Sheboygan County, where he currently resides in Oostburg with his wife, Nancy. He and Nancy have three children and six grandchildren.

Prior to being elected to the State Assembly, Terry worked at Oostburg State Bank for 33 years, becoming President and CEO. A banker by career, he remains active and interested in his hometown bank as a member of the Board of Directors.

In addition to his extensive career in banking, Terry has been a member and leader in various organizations in Sheboygan County. He previously served on Trinity Christian College's Board of Trustees (vice-chair); Sheboygan County Christian High School's Board (president); Oostburg Christian School's Board (secretary); and the Oostburg Community Education Foundation. He is also currently a member of the Oostburg Chamber of Commerce (former president-elect); Oostburg Kiwanis Club (former president); Oostburg Christian Reformed Church (former elder and deacon); Random Lake Area Chamber of Commerce; Republican Party of Sheboygan County; NRA; Sheboygan County Chamber of Commerce; Workbound, Inc. (former president); and the YMCA of Sheboygan County Board of Managers.

Terry brought his knowledge of banking and leadership skills to the legislature, earning him the assignment of Chairman of the Committee on Financial Institutions during the 2017-2018 legislative session. Beginning in the 2019-2020 legislative session, Terry has had the honor of serving on the Joint Committee on Finance (JFC), the state's powerful budget writing committee. He currently serves as the Vice Chairman of JFC.
