This Monday, September 9th the Speaker's Task Force on Suicide Prevention will meet for the final time in Milwaukee. This meeting is part of a summer-long schedule which included 5 earlier committee meetings taking place around Wisconsin.
The Speaker’s Task Force on Suicide Prevention has been asked to evaluate current suicide prevention efforts, identify new opportunities to target at-risk communities, increase awareness for evidence-based programs and protocols, and investigate new treatment and prevention options. The 15-member bipartisan task force has heard from farmers, students, first responders, veterans, health professionals, parents and other advocates. Legislators on the committee learned about the need to take a more proactive approach to the overall wellness of an individual and the importance of better coordination of services.
