Hello,

This week, I joined my colleagues in announcing new pieces of legislation that will help those affected by suicide. These proposals are the culmination of the Speaker's Task Force on Suicide Prevention, which held its final hearing this month. After holding public hearings around the state this summer and listening directly to the people who deal with this issue, I am confident these bills will make a large impact in addressing our state's problem with suicide.

After the press conference, members of the task force hosted a panel discussion with several guests that have been affected by suicide. Members of the public were able to join, and had the opportunity to share with others their experiences dealing with this difficult issue.

Catching up with the former Manitowoc Police Chief

Recently, I attended the local rotary club meeting and let them know some of the things I'm doing in Madison. While at the meeting, I ran into Manitowoc's former police chief, Tony Dick. Tony brought a ruler to make sure I still measure up!
