Ethan's Law Signed; Bill Becomes WI Act 72

Rep. Tittl, Rep. Drake, Sen. Jacque, & Rep. Subeck (from right to left) with Governor Evers as Ethan's Law is enacted.

Thursday afternoon, the Governor signed Senator Jacque and my bill into law, SB 24/AB 26, Ethan's Law. This legislation has been in the works for several sessions to honor Manitowoc boy Ethan Hauschultz, and protect future children from similar situations.

I am glad that Ethan's mom was able to be here. Although we can not fill the void of Ethan, we must protect other children in the future. Ethan's law was enacted as Act 72. This legislation makes it illegal for human services workers to place a child with a foster parent who has been convicted of any criminal offense that stemmed from an act of child abuse.
