Problems with DWD and Unemployment Insurance

Hello,

Many of you are still dealing with problems when filing a claim, or while waiting to hear back for adjudication. My staff and I are continuing to assist you in helping you get through to DWD. If you are experiencing difficulties with unemployment, please call or email my office and we will help you.

This week we got more insight into just how bad the problem really is at DWD. The backlog of unpaid claims has grown to more than 700,000 and the agency admits it may not be able to catch up until this fall. This is simply unacceptable.

My colleagues and I in the legislature will continue to advocate for a better response for the people of Wisconsin and hold this agency accountable for its poor performance.

Today is the 172nd birthday of the best state in the Country! Happy birthday, Wisconsin! On May 29, 1848, Wisconsin officially became the 30th state to enter the Union.

Watch the Manitowoc Memorial Day Ceremony

Although there was no Memorial Day Parade this year in Manitowoc, there was still a special ceremony you can watch here.

While the parade was cancelled because of the coronavirus, it did not  diminish the meaning and significance of Memorial Day and what it means. I was happy to speak at the ceremony alongside Mayor Nickels, County Executive Bob Ziegelbauer, and Iraq War veteran Todd Brehmer. Thank you to the organizers of the ceremony for orchestrating a special event under such unusual circumstances, and thank you once again to every brave American serviceman and woman who has given their lives to protect our country.

Blue Book Order.pngThe 2019-2020 State of Wisconsin Blue Book is now available. It's published biennially by the nonpartisan Legislative Reference Bureau. The Blue Book is a valuable source of information on state government, the legislative process and the history of our state. The featured article in the book is called: A HERO'S WELCOME, How the 1919 Wisconsin Legislature overcame divisions to enact innovative veterans legislation following World War I. If you would like a copy of the Wisconsin Blue Book to be sent to you, please contact my office at Rep.Tittl@legis.wisconsin.gov
