Have a Safe, Happy New Years!

HappyNewYear500.jpg

Hello,

What an incredible year it has been! Looking back, we accomplished a lot over the last twelve months. From providing resources to make our schools safer to promoting economic independence for Wisconsinites through welfare reform, we are moving in the right direction.

This year unemployment hit a historic low. We passed Alzheimer's legislation to assist those affected and their caregivers. Reforms were adopted to improve Wisconsin's juvenile justice system and Foxconn has made historic investments in communities across the state (in Green Bay, Milwaukee, Madison, and Eau Claire).

I must again commend the Roncalli boys basketball team for bringing home the state title this year! In October the Valders cross country team defended their state title, as well. Our schools and our kids make the community bright. I am proud to represent Calumet and Manitowoc Counties and cannot wait to see what 2019 has to hold for our area and the state as a whole.

If there is anything I can do to assist you, please contact me. You can share your thoughts, find out additional information on issues, or see where I stand on any legislation. I look forward to hearing from you and, as always, working for you.

Sincerely,

Committee Selections

One way I serve in the legislature is through committee work. When bills are introduced, they are referred to a committee. The committee chair can then hold a hearing on the bill and schedule a committee vote to move it forward to the full Assembly. I enjoy serving on committees that align with issue areas I am passionate about.

Last week, Speaker Vos announced Committee GOP Membership. I was selected to serve on the following committees:

  • Mental Health (Chair)
  • Consumer Protection (Vice Chair)
  • International Affairs & Commerce
  • Jobs & the Economy
  • Sporting Heritage
  • Veterans & Military Affairs

With New Years right around the corner and inauguration soon after, I cannot wait to get back to work advocating for the vulnerable, protecting our sporting heritage, and keeping Wisconsin open for business. If you would like to discuss issues pertaining to these committees or any other legislative topic, please contact me.
