A Look Back at 2017

January State of the State Address 500.jpg

Hello,

Happy new year! As we begin 2018, I would like to reflect back on 2017 and all the amazing and promising things that occurred. The photo above is from the State of the State address last January, when I introduced Pastor Mike Beresford, who gave the prayer. The next State of the State address is scheduled for January 24th.

The state legislature has accomplished some impressive milestones already this session, investing in K-12 education, expanding our economic opportunities, and lowering taxes for hardworking Wisconsinites. 2018 will be another great year as we continue to move Wisconsin forward.

How We Met

This spring, I had a blast making a video about meeting my wonderful wife.  Julie is such a blessing to me, and I know it was God's plan for me to meet her and help get her car out of that ditch. Looking back 25 years later, I've never been more grateful.

 Hometown Hero: Lia Haile

Last May, I had the privilege of honoring Lia Haile, a 7th grade student from Manitowoc, as a "Hometown Hero." Lia started the "Hopeful Hearts Club" back in 2012 to help kids and families at the Hope House in Manitowoc.

Her organization puts together gift baskets and throws birthday parties for children at the homeless shelter. Homelessness is a real problem in our area, and Lia is doing what she can to help. She is a shining star in our community, and one I was proud to recognize in front of the Wisconsin Legislature and the Governor.

Listening Sessions

I enjoyed hosting listening sessions in the district with Senator LeMahieu in 2017. Thank you to all those who came out to have an open conversation with us about important issues. Look out for information on future listening sessions-coming soon!

Foxconn Vote

The Foxconn bill is an exciting piece of legislation from 2017. This agreement launches Wisconsin into a new industry and provides many exciting economic opportunities for Wisconsinites across the state.

The bill came to the Committee on Jobs & the Economy, where I was proud to vote it forward on August 15th. It passed the Assembly on August 17th.

Budget and Foxconn Bill Signings

Last but not least, the Governor signed both the Foxconn bill and the budget into law in September. I was able to attend the Foxconn bill signing, which was a memorable event. Can you find me in the photo above (left) next to Representative Steineke?

From committee meetings to floor sessions to constituent visits, 2017 has been a particularly memorable year. Thank you for making Manitowoc and Calumet counties such a great place to live and an area I am proud to represent in Madison.

If there is anything I can do to assist you, please contact my office. You can share your thoughts, find out additional information on issues, or see where I stand on any legislation. I look forward to hearing from you and, as always, working for you.

Sincerely,

Signature 200.jpg

Representative Paul Tittl
