Press Conference this week on Mental Health Bills
|
Joining me at the press conference were Sen. Darling (River Hills), Sen. LeMahieu (Oostburg), and Sen. Bernier (Chippewa Falls)
The counties above in white do not currently have a psychiatrist.
|
On Tuesday, I held a press conference along with fellow Republicans showcasing a package of bills that will be the next step in fighting our state's mental health problem.
Among other things, these bills will provide matching grants to local organizations who help those with mental illness, create a tax deduction for newly licensed psychiatrists to practice in Wisconsin, and update our state's psychology statue, which is 25 years old.

Suicide Prevention Task Force Meeting this week in Eau Claire |
Attending the meeting with me were Rep. Kurtz (Wonewoc), Rep. Oldenburg (Viroqua), Rep. VanderMeer (Tomah), Rep. Schraa (Oshkosh), and Rep. James (Altoona) |
Earlier this week, legislators and I held another meeting for the Speaker's Task Force on Suicide Prevention, this time in Eau Claire. We discussed ways we can fight the increasing suicide rate in our state, specifically among our farmers and children. We also had the chance to hear directly from people in the area dealing with these issues. |
Catch me on WCUB Radio at 8:30 AM this Monday!

Please welcome one of Manitowoc's newest married couples! |
 |
Johnny Hang, son of Mr. and Mrs. Yong Pao Hang from Manitowoc, and Yer Moua, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nhia Cha Moua from Laos, were wed earlier this month in Manitowoc. My wife and I were happy to attend, and we offer our best wishes to this happy couple! |
An Interesting Article in in the Newspaper with a Familiar Face... |
I recently found an interesting article by the Wisconsin Historical Society that was featured in the Herald Times Reporter. The article shows a picture of Chief Mexico and talks about some of the Native Americans who lived in the local area. I have the same picture of Chief Mexico in my office! If you are ever in Madison, my door is always open and feel free to say hello to Chief Mexico and me!
Sincerely,

Representative Paul Tittl
